ECAC West Weekly Picks, Jan. 27 – Jan. 28

I managed to go 1-1-1 in league play last week but swept the non-league contests on Saturday.  It is a good thing I usually pick the ECAC West over the SUNYAC teams (grin).
Neumann is idle this week after a very busy stretch since the holidays but the rest of the teams are in tough weekend series.
Last Week:  4-1
Overall:  46-16 (.742)
{predicted winners bolded}
Manhattanville at Elmira:  Manhattanville is on a 6-0-2 roll in January and coming off its first sweep of Neumann in seven years.  Likewise, Elmira is 5-0-2 in January and hasn’t let an opponent score more than two goals all month.  Elmira beat Manhattanville 6-3 earlier this season at Playland but this weekend will most likely be a split against two very evenly matched teams.  Elmira takes it on Friday night and Manhattanville wins on Saturday.
Hobart vs. Utica (home-and-home):  Neither Hobart or Utica haswon more than three games in a row this season but they can’t afford to fall further behind in the standings either.  Their seasons are teetering on the edge so this home-and-home series should be a barn burner.  I’m picking the road team to win both games so that means Hobart wins Friday and Utica gets the victory on Saturday.
